2016 Tempranillo
In my opinion Tempranillo is a variety with a very bright future in Washington. This 100% Tempranillo opens with a nose composed of earthy components and smokey dark fruits. In the mouth the earthy, dusty elements persist, creating a wonderfully textural feel. The tannins are not shy in this one, delivering just the right amount of grip to make this a great wine to pair with rich pork belly dish!

Review Of Washington Wines:
This is an outstanding rendition of this Spanish variety. Semi opaque ruby colored, it possesses intense aromas of black cherries, plums, black currants, crushed roses, mulberry, sweet tobacco, Spanish lavender, cedar and incense. The flavors are direct and focused, with dark fruits that are infused with licorice, cacao, chicory coffee and silty earth and minerals. The penetration continues on the back with sensations of roasted berries and nuts and touches of leather and lanolin, followed by a lingering Rioja-like sweet-dry tannin finish. 19/20 points.
