2014 Estate Merlot
This is a wonderful example of Merlot from Washington State. It begins with a nose of black cherry, blackberry, and licorice with hints of toasty oak. The mouth is a bold extension of the nose, with more ripe black fruits, dark plum and structured tannins that lead to a pleasantly lingering finish.
Review Of Washington Wines:
This 100% Merlot displays a deep ruby color and sultry aromas of blackberry, black cherry, Damson plum, black roses, mulberry, dark tobacco, anise and smoldering incense. The flavors mirror the aromatics with deep, voluminous dark fruits that are endowed with licorice, bittersweet chocolate, French roast and silty minerals. The intensity continues on the back with sensations of macerated berries, roasted sweet nuts, toffee, mocha, and touches of suede leather and lanolin (“legs”), followed by a lingering sweet-dry tannin finish. This is all what South Valley Merlot is about. 19/20 points.
