Another Walla Walla start-up whose first vintage was 2003, Gifford Hirlinger’s focus will be on estate-bottled wine. The 2003 Stateline Red (320 cases) is made entirely from estate fruit in a blend consisting of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Merlot. This is a soft, easy-going, forward wine with no hard edges. It offers an attractive cherry and cassis-scented nose, a plush texture, ripe, sweet fruit, and good length. Enjoy this tasty wine over the next 6 years.
