Big Plans are Afoot

What's new in the Vineyard?

Around the Corner:

As you probably know our first wines have all been Cab/Merlot blends.  That's because until this year, those were the only vines we had mature enough to produce fruit.  Well that's all about to change.  This year we will be getting our first crop of two new varietals that we planted in the spring of 2005, they are Malbec and Petit Verdot!  We are very excited to get to play with these new grapes and expand our lineup of wines.

Down the Road:

In the spring of 2006 we planted another 4.5 acres with a few more varietals.   First we planted two more clones of Cabernet Sauvignon (you can never have enough Cab).  We feel that the different site and clonal variation should add complexities and depth to the flavor profile.  Next we planted Tempranillo and Tinta Cao.  The first is a Spanish grape, and the second is Portuguese.  We are very excited about both of these varietals and look forward to doing a little experimentation with them!  And last, but certainly not least, we planted a little Pinot Grigio!  We figured we should have a little bit of crisp, refreshing white wine for the hot summer months we get here in Walla Walla!
